Egyptian Relief Art

This workshop introduces students to the art of Ancient Egyptian reliefs and wall paintings.

Students will explore two main types of relief carving — raised and sunk relief — and learn how these were used in temples and monuments. Through guided observation, they will discover how images and symbols were carved and how color played an important role in bringing them to life.

Each student will work with a small relief fragment, inspired by authentic motifs, and create their own interpretation. The workshop also includes an introduction to traditional tools, brushes, and color palettes used in Ancient Egypt.

The aim is to help students:

  • understand how art and storytelling were connected in Ancient Egypt
  • explore texture, form, and symbol
  • imagine how vibrant and colorful ancient monuments once were

The workshop combines hands-on creativity with cultural and historical insight in an engaging and accessible way.

Planned to begin from autumn 2026.
